Exercise May Prevent Cancer and Add Years to Your Life

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to celebrate life and show you just how much fitness contributes to your overall well being. Hint: it’s a lot!
When you want to shed a few pounds, get back in shape or recover from an illness, what do you do? It always goes back to the age-old solution, “diet and exercise.” Regardless of the latest and greatest novelty weight loss program or diet pill – nothing replaces physical activity and healthy eating.
It’s more than just a theory. Research has found that men and women who participate in recreational exercise and sports over their lifetime may lower their risk of death. Yes, it can actually prevent unhealthy conditions.
According to cancer.gov, researchers found that regular physical activity can improve health to:
• Control weight
• Decrease risk of developing high blood pressure and diabetes
• Maintain healthy bones, muscles and joints
• Lower the risk of developing heart disease
• Promote mental and physical well being
• Reduce premature death
• Affect the risk of breast, colon and additional cancer
As you know, getting fit is more than just preventing the unknown — it’s about conquering the now. Seeing your goals come to life. Feeling good. Looking amazing.
Eating healthy and participating in 30 minutes of physical activity multiple times a week will also help you:
• Get a little “me” time
• Have fun
• Drop a pant size
• Give you more energy
• Feel 10 years younger
• Relieve stress (yes, punching bags help!)
• Gain the confidence to sport that bikini
So the next time you come back from spin class, weight lifting or a 5-mile run covered in sweat — remember, you’re doing this for yourself, everyone around you and your health.
