Melissa’s Story: From Health Concerns to Triathlons – And 120 Pounds Lost in the Process

My name is Melissa. I joined Lifestyle family Fitness four years ago in an attempt to avoid the numerous health problems that my mother faced as a result of being diabetic. A little over two years ago my story was featured in the LFF Coaches Corner. At that time I had lost 50 pounds, was developing a serious addiction to group fitness, and had the goal of competing in a triathlon.

On Saturday, July 31, 2010, I achieved this goal by participating in the Top Gun Triathlon, finishing in a time of 1:48.42. While I continue to attend group fitness classes (Body Combat is still my favorite), I have also participated in Boot Camp and most recently started personal training with Don Leeder at LFF Bloomingdale, which is one of the best decisions I have made in my journey towards better health and fitness.

To date I have lost 120lbs. My future goals include taking the certification to instruct Body Combat and competing in a half marathon in November. Thanks to LFF, when my fit called…..I answered.
